Get up and go breakfast idea
By Carmen Scott
I discovered that I seem to have an intolerance to wheat and gluten, which has really thrown me for a loop in the kitchen. It is like starting from scratch again, especially on the baking side! I often find myself out of ingredients, which makes for some experimentation (and a few disasters).
On that note, this is an incredibly common intolerance. Cow’s milk and wheat are the two top allergens, and many people have become so used to feeling sick that they forget what it is like to feel awesome. If you have digestive issues, unexplained fatigue, or any other peculiar symptoms, it may be worth cutting wheat and gluten out for a couple of weeks to see if you notice anything. A website called www.celiac.ca is incredibly helpful to help you navigate through the wide world of gluten, which is hidden in everything.
Here’s an easy power-packed breakfast idea.
Get up and go breakfast
- ¾ cup stewed prunes (I always keep some on hand, they freeze very well)
- ¼ cup shredded coconut
- ½ cup fresh blueberries
- 2 Tbsp ground flax seeds
- 1 Tbsp coconut butter
- ¼ cup vanilla almond milk
Mix all of these together and enjoy! Super nutrient-dense, powerful breakfast that will keep you going all day long!
